‘F**king liar’: Relative of abusive husband killed by wife Nirmeen Noufl loses it outside court as sentence handed down

A relative of a repeat domestic violence offender who was killed by his wife in self-defence has gone ballistic outside court after learning the 61-year-old mother of eight could be free as early as October 2027.

Nirmeen Noufl was sentenced to six years and three months in jail with a non-parole period of three years for the manslaughter of Mahmoud Noufl, a sentence that was backdated to the day of her arrest in October 2024.

At some point between May 3 and May 4 in 2023, Noufl used a sharp instrument to kill her husband during an altercation at their western Sydney home in Greenacre that she said made her fearful for her life.

In the days following the incident, a person who cannot be identified due to legal reasons arrived at the home before taking an unknown number of garbage bags understood to be filled with Mr Noufl’s dismembered remains and dispersing them across Sydney.

Judge Peter Hamill said Noufl had endured a “greatly abusive relationship, featuring violence and psychological manipulation” that had also been exacerbated by extensive abuse at the hands of her parents as a child.

Despite these mitigating factors, he said the “meticulous and disturbing dissection of her former companion” was an offence that clearly warranted jail time.

“A message must be sent to the community that however you come to kill someone, you cannot deal with the body in this way,” he said.

“The disposal of the body was as thorough as it was brutal and was part of an ongoing and calculated attempt to cover up the crime.”

Outside court, a man who identified himself as Mr Noufl’s nephew yelled at reporters, claiming Noufl is “f**king too dangerous” to be let out of jail.

“She’s a f**king liar … so dangerous to the community,” he said as he walked in the direction of St James station.

According to witnesses previously heard in court, and statements provided by Noufl, her husband had repeatedly perpetrated domestic violence against her and her children throughout the course of the marriage and was planning to leave his wife for another woman in Egypt.

Days before the killing, Noufl had asked her husband for a divorce over the infidelity, which he refused.
