Arizona court tosses sentence due to AI victim impact statement

A 10-year sentence for manslaughter has been tossed after a video generated by artificial intelligence portrayed the deceased victim addressing a judge before the punishment was imposed.

The Arizona Court of Appeals concluded the perpetrator must be resentenced in the fatal 2021 shooting of Christopher Pelkey since the AI video didn’t reflect actual events.
