Residents evacuated in Greely after crash involving propane tanker truck
Ottawa police and firefighters evacuated Greely residents from their homes Tuesday night after a propane tanker truck crashed on Parkway Road.
The Ottawa fire hazmat crew descended to the scene of the accident — near the corner of Parkway Road and Cedar Lane — to monitor air quality and to assess risk from a propane leak.
Ottawa Fire Services later said that the team “successfully mitigated the leak” and that the truck had been returned to its wheels.
“The tanker truck has been removed and all roads have reopened,” the Ottawa Fire Services said in a social media post.
Ottawa Fire Services said that during the evacuation, the Greely Community Centre was open as a reception centre for evacuated residents.
