Rail Safety Week 2026 puts rail safety education in the national spotlight

Financial Post ·

OTTAWA, Ontario and WASHINGTON, Sept. 21, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Operation Lifesaver Canada (OL Canada) and partners across the country will mark Rail Safety Week, September 21 to 27 , with There’s no Undo Button , a national campaign focused on rail safety education, safe behaviours around railway tracks and crossings, and the irreversible consequences of unsafe decisions around railway tracks and crossings.

Throughout the week, Canada’s railways, police services and first responders, municipalities, community organizations, Rail Safety Ambassadors and other partners will bring the campaign to communities across the country through events, outreach and education.

A welcome email is on its way. If you don't see it, please check your junk folder.

“Rail Safety Week is an opportunity to get Canadians talking about rail safety,” said Chloé Devine Drouin, Director, Marketing and Engagement, Operation Lifesaver Canada. “For 45 years, Operation Lifesaver Canada has worked alongside partners and communities across the country to share knowledge that can save lives. This week is about building on that work, reaching people where they are and making rail safety a conversation that continues long after Rail Safety Week ends.”

In the United States, Operation Lifesaver, Inc. (OLI) will mark the 10th anniversary of See Tracks? Think Train ® Week from September 21 to 27. While each country has its own campaign themes and programming, OL Canada and OLI share a commitment to advancing rail safety education across North America.

“Safety advocates across North America are united in the common goal of saving lives,” said Rachel Maleh, Executive Director of Operation Lifesaver, Inc. “We can all do something to help stop track tragedies, and it starts with knowing the facts, recognizing the signs and making good decisions. Join us by sharing the rail safety message this week or throughout the year! You can make a difference!”
