Person in vehicle killed as plane crash lands on road near Prince George

Vancouver Sun ·

One person is dead after a twin-propeller passenger plane crashed on a busy road north of Prince George on Thursday afternoon.

Prince George RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jennifer Cooper said that at around 2:20 p.m. on Aug. 20 the plane made an emergency landing on the four-lane Foothills Boulevard, about 1.5 kilometres north of North Nechako Road.

“Two vehicles were also involved,” Cooper said, adding that an occupant of one of those vehicles was killed.

“Investigators would like to remind the public that this is an active investigation and that they need to stay away from the area.”

According to reporting from the Prince George Citizen, the plane was a Beechcraft B200 Super King Air operated by Sekani Air. Typically that model can carry up to nine passenger and two pilots.

The plane appeared to land on a straight stretch of the southbound lanes and struck two vehicles that were headed north.

Photos from the scene show a propeller on the road and once vehicle, a Ford F150, with a piece of the plane embedded in the windscreen. An injured man is standing alongside the truck. A yellow hatchback is seen off the road with emergency services personnel helping someone alongside the vehicle.
