Metallica is one of only a handful of heavy metal bands that can sell out huge arenas. The band formed in Los Angeles in 1981 by singer/guitarist James Hetfield and drummer Lars Ulrich has been a huge concert draw for decades.
The reason is obvious to anyone who has followed the quartet which also includes lead guitarist Kirk Hammett and bassist Robert Trujillo.
Since the group first found global success with its awesome 1986 album Master of Puppets, the band has gone on to put out genre-defining records such as the Black Album, Hardwired … to Self-Destruct and 2023’s 72 Seasons. They are one of the best-selling bands of all time, with sales more than 163 million albums-and-counting. Their concert tours are almost always sold out.
Now the group is heading out on the road once again to bring fans some of thrash metal’s most enduring songs live in concert on the M72 World Tour North American leg. To date, the band has performed 99 shows in 26 countries since the tour started in April 2023.

The Vancouver date marks the first of a dozen new dates on the M72 World Tour which will wind down on June 19, 2027 at Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City.
Support acts on the M72 Tour include rap metal crew Limp Bizkit and the excellent Swedish band Avatar.
The Vancouver show is the only Canadian date on the M72 Tour posted on the band’s website. The group is playing at the Sphere in Las Vegas from October 2026 to March 2027. All dates are sold out for regular tickets.
