Ottawa police officer charged with impaired driving
Police say a 25-year-old Ottawa constable faces impaired driving-related charges following an off-duty incident on Thanksgiving weekend.
On Oct. 10, Const. Clay Berrea was charged with operation while impaired and operation while having a blood-alcohol concentration equal to or exceeding, 80 mg of alcohol in 100 mL of blood, the Ottawa Police Service said in release on Oct. 16.
The constable has been reassigned to administrative duties and is not currently serving in a front-line patrol capacity, police added in the release.
The OPS release also reminds the public that all officers are held to a high standard of conduct both on duty and off and that the service “expects their actions to reflect the trust and values of the community we serve.”
