Report: Seahawks sign star cornerback Devon Witherspoon to record extension
A core piece of the Seattle Seahawks' Super Bowl-winning defence is getting rewarded.
Star cornerback Devon Witherspoon signed a four-year contract extension worth up to $132 million with the club, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Saturday.
The deal includes $101 million in guarantees, making Witherspoon the highest-paid player ever at his position, per Schefter.
Witherspoon, 25, has made the Pro Bowl all three seasons since being selected fifth overall in the 2023 draft by Seattle.
He peaked last season, being named a second-team all-pro after appearing in 12 games and recording one interception, half a sack, seven pass deflections and 72 tackles.
Witherspoon recorded a key sack of New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye in the Seahawks' 29-13 Super Bowl win.
For his career, the Pensacola, Fla., native has 4.5 sacks and two picks in 43 games.
