Ottawa police seeking to identify trio in connection with downtown assault in July
The Ottawa Police Service has issued a composite photo and requested public assistance in identifying three individuals in connection with an assault in the ByWard Market area in late July.
A news release on Aug. 14 said the assault occurred at about 8:45 p.m. on Friday, July 24, in the area of George and Cumberland streets.
It added that investigators had identified one individual as the suspect in the assault and were seeking to identify two others “who may have information relevant to the investigation.”
The release said the suspect was known to frequent the area of George Street and Cumberland Street. He was described as a Black man with black hair, which appears to be styled in locks and pulled back in a ponytail.

At the time of the incident, he was wearing a black baseball hat worn backwards, black sunglasses with gold detailing on the right side, a black T-shirt with white graphics or wording on the front and right shoulder, blue jean shorts, white socks and black shoes.
One of the other individuals was described as a White woman with a medium build. At the time of the incident, she wore a black, off-the-shoulder shirt with a graphic on the front, black leggings and white shoes. She was carrying a black tote bag.
The third individual was a Black man with a heavy build and short hair styled in locks. At the time of the incident, he wore a white and black shirt, blue jeans and black shoes.
Anyone who could help identify these individuals or who had information about the incident was asked to contact the Ottawa Police Service Central Investigations Section at 613-236-1222, ext. 5166.
