Canadian women dominate Brazil to improve to 4-0 at wheelchair basketball worlds

Arinn Young led the way with 23 points, six rebounds and nine assists as Canada remained undefeated with an 80-37 win over Brazil in Group A action at the wheelchair basketball world championships on Sunday at TD Place.

Cindy Ouellet and Elise Froese each added 15 points off the bench as Canada improved to 4-0 at the tournament.

“It was really a team win,” said Canadian veteran Élodie Tessier. "Coming off such an emotional game against China that can sometimes lower the pressure for the next one.’’

Canadian women improve to 3-0 at wheelchair basketball worlds in Ottawa with win over China

The Canadians got off to a hot start, taking a 19-4 edge into the break after the first quarter and never looked back.

Canada was outrebounded 33-31, but shot 56 per cent from the field, held a 26-14 edge in assists and forced Brazil into 28 turnovers while only having nine.

Canada will finish the group stage with a game against Great Britain on Tuesday at Carleton University.
