Vancouver’s Little Mountain defends Canadian Little League title

A familiar organization will wear Canada's colours at the 2026 Little League World Series.

Vancouver's Little Mountain beat Ottawa West 4-0 in the Canadian final on Wednesday in Glace Bay, N.S., to capture the national title for a second year in a row and third time in the past five years.

The game went to a second extra inning after being tied at 0-0 through the regulation six innings.

Centre fielder Kian Sandhu was the hero, making a diving catch to preserve the tie in the sixth inning before cashing in two runs with a double in the eighth inning.

After Little Mountain scored two more runs, Jacob Massel finished off Ottawa in the bottom of the eighth.

Ottawa West starter Aaron Aquino struck out 10 in 5.2 innings before hitting his pitch limit.

The Little League World Series, for players aged 10 to 12, runs Aug. 19-30 in South Williamsport, Pa.

Canada, playing in the 10-team international pool, will open against a team from Seoul, South Korea, on Aug. 19.
