North York men charged with multiple offences in Milton robbery probe
Halton Regional Police seized two firearms and laid multiple charges against two North York men as part of a two-day theft investigation that began last month in Milton.
Cops said two people broke into a parked vehicle in Milton on Sept. 2 and stole cash and other valuables, including a watch.
Authorities said that on Sept. 3, the same two people allegedly went to Elements Casino in Milton and stole cash from a guest services drawer and fled when confronted by casino security.
Investigators began an investigation and identified two suspects, who allegedly worked together on both thefts.
Officers executed a search warrant on Oct. 1 at a North York residence with two people there being arrested. A stolen Glock 17 handgun with three loaded magazines, a Norinco Type 56 rifle with two loaded magazines and a spring-assisted knife were allegedly seized.
Police also allegedly recovered items stolen during from the vehicle in Milton.
Iraklii Shariia, 38, and Davit Kukhilava, 47, both of North York, have each been charged with two counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized and contravention of storage regulations.
They are also charged with one count each of possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition, possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition, unauthorized possession of a prohibited device, knowledge of unauthorized possession of a prohibited device and possession of a weapon obtained by a criminal offence, theft over $5,000 and theft under $5,000
