Man killed in single-vehicle collision on Tsuut'ina Trail

The lone occupant of a vehicle died after a crash on Tsuut’ina Trail Friday evening, marking the city’s 22nd road fatality of 2026.

A 2025 Pontiac Grand Am was going southbound on the ring road approaching 90th Avenue S.W. when it left the pavement around 8 p.m., striking the base of a sign police, the Calgary Police Service said in a news release issued Saturday.

The driver, a man in his 20s, had to be cut out of the wreck, police added. Emergency crews took the crash victim to a hospital, where he later died.

There were no other people in the vehicle, and no other vehicles were involved.

Although the investigation is ongoing, it’s not believed speed or impairment were factors in the collision, police said.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call police at 403-266-1234. Anonymous tips are also accepted through Calgary Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, on the organization’s website , or using the P3 Tips mobile app.

So far in 2026, 22 people have died in 18 fatal collisions, according to Calgary police.
