Kelowna MLA Gavin Dew to take on role as opposition finance critic

Vancouver Sun ·

B.C. Conservative party leader Kerry-Lynn Findlay has appointed Kelowna-Mission MLA Gavin Dew to take on the role of opposition finance critic.

On Monday, Findlay announced some changes to her shadow cabinet, including the appointment of Dew, who is a one-term MLA and former B.C. Liberal party member.

Findlay said Misty Van Popta, MLA for Langley-Walnut Grove, will serve as deputy whip while continuing as shadow minister for infrastructure. Scott McInnis, MLA for Columbia-River Revelstoke, will lead caucus policy development while continuing as shadow minister for Indigenous relations. And Bruce Banman, MLA for Abbotsford South, will add shadow minister of agriculture to his responsibilities, alongside shadow minister of tourism.

Findlay said Reann Gasper, who has agreed to abandon her seat so that Findley can run in an upcoming byelection , is now her deputy chief of staff.

A welcome email is on its way. If you don't see it, please check your junk folder.

“We now have an even stronger team than before, ready and willing to take on and defeat the NDP and restore British Columbia’s economy and prosperity,” Findlay said.

The new roles were announced the same day MLAs Peter Milobar and Delta South MLA Ian Paton said they will form a new centre-right party to rival the B.C. Conservatives and give voters another alternative to the NDP.
