Swedish chip expert Henry Homayoun Radamson dies in China of ‘sudden illness’, aged 63

Sudden death of Guangdong-based researcher, who specialised in the medical use of technology, left what was described as a ‘profound void’

Award-winning Swedish chip expert Henry Homayoun Radamson has died in Shanghai at the age of 63.

Radamson, who moved to China in 2016, was working as the chief scientist at the Guangdong Greater Bay Area Institute of Integrated Circuit and System.

The institute said on Tuesday that he died from a “sudden illness” on August 12.

Radamson was best known for his research into nanotechnology and its use in medical diagnostics. He also worked on the development of short wave infrared chips.

The European Materials Research Society, where he was an executive committee member, said: “His sudden loss leaves a profound void within his scientific community.”

The society described him as “a highly respected scientist and a dedicated researcher whose work contributed significantly to the advancement of materials science and semiconductor technologies”.
