Top political advisor urges contributions to China's modernization
China's top political advisor Wang Huning on Monday urged members of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) to contribute ideas and efforts to advance the modernization of agriculture and rural areas and urban development.
Wang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, made the remarks when presiding over a meeting of the Chairpersons Council of the CPPCC National Committee.
Wang stressed the need to align thinking and action with the CPC Central Committee's sound assessment of the current economic situation and its decisions and plans on economic work, and to pool strength to sustain the economy's development toward better performance.
He urged political advisors to perform their duties with a focus on the central tasks of the Party and the country.
Wang also underscored the efforts to leverage the strengths of sectors such as the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and the China Zhi Gong Party to better rally the support of overseas Chinese.
The meeting deliberated on and adopted the CPPCC National Committee's work report for the first half of 2026, which will be delivered at the 18th session of the Standing Committee of the 14th CPPCC National Committee scheduled for late August.
