Wang Yi calls for de-escalation of conflicts in the Middle East

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said China always attaches great importance to China-Kuwait relations and is willing to take the 55th anniversary of diplomatic ties as an opportunity to build a more solid, higher-quality, and more substantial strategic partnership.

Wang made the remarks on Monday in Beijing when meeting with visiting Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.

The Chinese foreign minister also expressed hope that Kuwait would ensure the safety of Chinese personnel, institutions, and projects in the country, improving the convenience of personnel exchanges between the two sides.

He emphasized that the current situation in the Middle East and the Gulf region has once again reached a critical juncture, adding that parties involved should return to the negotiation table as soon as possible and push forward the de-escalation of the various conflicts.

The Kuwaiti foreign minister responded that his country firmly adheres to the one-China principle, adding that Kuwait appreciates the constructive role played by China in the US-Israel-Iran conflict and is willing to strengthen communication and coordination with China to promote the early restoration of security and stability in the region, while safeguarding the freedom and security of international shipping routes.
