The 5th Chinese Documentary Film Festival opened in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, on September 22.
A total of 55 eligible entries were received for the "Golden Seagull" Chinese-language Documentary Film Solicitation and Recommendation initiative, with 22 shortlisted in the film categories, and 14 in the individual award categories.
The inaugural "Golden Kapok" (Guangzhou) Documentary Film Call for Submissions received more than 1,100 entries.
The 2026 Chinese-language Documentary Film Annual Report was officially released at the opening ceremony, and the establishment of the Greater Bay Area Nature Documentary Alliance was announced.
