Wang Manyu wins third Grand Smash title in Malmo

China's Wang Manyu claimed her third WTT Grand Smash women's singles title at the World Table Tennis Europe Smash Sweden on Sunday, as China wrapped up the tournament with two titles, claiming the glory in the women's singles and mixed doubles events.

In an all-Chinese women's singles final, Wang Manyu edged past Wang Yidi 4-2 (12-10, 11-3, 9-11, 12-10, 12-10, 11-5) in a hard-fought six-game contest, going one better than her runner-up finish in Malmo a year ago.

"The ups and downs during the match, mental control and the ability to seize key moments are what really determine how a match goes," Wang said.

"I haven't been at my best in the first half of this season, so I'm hoping a title here can give my confidence a boost.

There's a training camp coming up soon, and I'll take the lessons from this tournament to make some targeted improvements," she added.

In the men's singles final, France's Felix Lebrun beat Japan's Tomokazu Harimoto 4-1 to claim his first WTT Grand Smash trophy.

China's Lin Shidong and Kuai Man won the mixed doubles title earlier on Friday.

However, Lin Shidong and Zhou Qihao were eliminated in the men's singles round of 16, while the nation's men's and women's doubles teams exited in the quarterfinals.
