China unveils team for 48th WorldSkills Competition in Shanghai

China has unveiled its delegation for the 48th WorldSkills Competition, which will be held in Shanghai from September 22 to 27.

The 220-member Chinese delegation includes 71 competitors, who will take part in all 64 competition events.

The competitors, 58 men and 13 women, come from 21 provincial-level regions across China.

Among them, 49 are students, and 22 are employees.

Their average age is 21, with the youngest competitor aged 18 and the oldest 25.

According to an official with China's Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, the competition will feature 64 events across six major fields: manufacturing, transportation, construction, information and communication technology, creative arts and fashion, and social and personal services.

The event is expected to be the largest in WorldSkills history, with around 1,400 competitors from nearly 70 countries and regions expected to participate.

The two sets of uniforms draw their core design inspiration from mortise-and-tenon joints, a traditional Chinese architectural and woodworking technique that connects structural components without the use of nails.
