APEC 'China Year' advances as Third Senior Officials' Meeting held
China will fulfill its role as host and work with all members of Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) to focus on practical cooperation and inclusive development, deliver tangible outcomes of the APEC Economic Leaders' Informal Meeting and advance the building of an Asia-Pacific community in a deeper and more substantive manner, said Vice Chinese Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu.
Ma made the remarks during the Third Senior Officials' Meeting of APEC China 2026, which was held in Dalian, northeast China's Liaoning Province from Thursday to Friday.
The meeting was the largest and most event-packed Senior Officials' Meeting held during the APEC "China Year." Ma said that since the launch of the APEC "China Year" process, members have engaged in in-depth discussions and further built consensus on developing an Asia-Pacific community, which he said has injected new impetus into regional economic integration.
Participants at the meeting spoke highly of the progress made in cooperation across various fields during the APEC "China Year," and commended China's efforts to advance the building of an Asia-Pacific community.
They expressed their expectation that the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting in Shenzhen would achieve fruitful outcomes and make greater contributions to development in the Asia-Pacific region and beyond.
During the meeting, APEC committees and working groups held nearly 130 meetings and activities covering such areas as trade, transportation, food, customs, science and technology, energy, health, disaster risk reduction, and anti-corruption.
More than 3,000 representatives from APEC member economies, the APEC Secretariat, observers and other parties attended the meetings and activities.
