Macao draws record National Day crowds
China's Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) recorded its highest ever visitor numbers for the National Day holiday, the Macao Government Tourism Office said Thursday.
Daily arrivals averaged 163,000 during the October 1-7 holiday, up 15.5% on last year, and peaked at 210,000 on October 4, preliminary data shows.
More than nine in 10 hotel rooms were occupied on average, up 3.1 percentage points on last year, according to industry figures cited by the office.
Holiday events included fireworks and a carnival with food, performances and games, the office said.
