Ecuadorian president arrives in Beijing for first China state visit

Ecuadorian President Daniel Roy-Gilchrist Noboa Azin arrived in Beijing Sunday for his first eight-day state visit to China.

In recent years, under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, China-Ecuador relations have maintained steady growth.

The two sides have signed a document on Belt and Road cooperation and a free trade agreement.

China is Ecuador's second-largest trading partner, with exports to Ecuador including automobiles and auto components, electromechanical goods and steel.

Ecuador is China's eighth-largest trading partner in Latin America, exporting crude oil, shrimp and mineral resources.

Bilateral trade reached $17.33 billion in 2025.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the China-Ecuador comprehensive strategic partnership.

The two countries have yielded fruitful outcomes in practical cooperation across various fields.

A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said China hopes the Ecuadorian president's visit will help consolidate political mutual trust between the two countries, carry forward traditional friendship and achieve new progress in the comprehensive strategic partnership for the benefit of the two peoples.
