China will send second batch of relief supplies to disaster-hit Nepal

China's second batch of relief supplies for Nepal is expected to be shipped today, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said on Tuesday.

The supplies include drones, DNA testing equipment and reagents, water purification equipment, lighting equipment and other urgently needed items, said Guo, adding that Chinese DNA identification experts will also travel to the disaster-hit areas to assist their Nepalese counterparts on the ground.

Noting that China and Nepal have maintained sound cooperation in areas such as meteorology, water conservancy, disaster prevention and mitigation, Guo said the two sides have maintained smooth communication on search and rescue, information sharing and the prevention of secondary disasters following the deadly mudslide disaster.

China has continued to provide Nepal with meteorological and hydrological data, conduct professional consultations and issue relevant early warnings, he noted.

China will continue to provide strong support for Nepal's disaster relief efforts, strengthen cooperation in disaster prevention and mitigation, and safeguard the common interests of the people of both countries, the spokesperson said.

Providing emergency assistance to the disaster-hit areas of Nepal and carrying out international rescue cooperation is an important political decision made by China, reflecting its friendly ties with Nepal, Guo added.

China will stand firmly with Nepal and work together to overcome the difficulties, demonstrating the traditional friendship between the two neighbors through concrete actions, he said.
