Chinese film and TV showcase wraps up in Brazil
The Chinese Film and Television Series Exhibition in Brazil wrapped up its sixth edition on Thursday, closing with a ceremony in Rio de Janeiro that launched its online program.
Co-organized by China Media Group (CMG), the Rio de Janeiro International Film Festival and RioMarket, and Box Brazil Media Group, the event drew around 150 guests from government, media and the film and television industries in both countries.
2026 marks the China-Brazil Year of Culture.
CMG has held the exhibition in Brazil every year since 2021, bringing nearly 100 Chinese film and television productions to Brazilian audiences.
The initiative has become an important platform for local viewers to learn about China and experience Chinese culture.
In a video address, Chinese Ambassador to Brazil Zhu Qingqiao said that China-Brazil relations had reached a historic milestone, advancing from a comprehensive strategic partnership to a community with a shared future.
Ties between the two countries have never been stronger, he added.
Marcio Elias Rosa, minister of Development, Industry, Trade and Services of Brazil, said China and Brazil have strategic synergies across multiple fields, with film and television an important area of cooperation.
A video shown at the ceremony reviewed the screenings and cultural events held across Brazil.
Brazilian viewers said the Chinese productions helped them see how the two countries differ – and the experiences and emotions they share.
