China to provide emergency assistance to Nepal as needed

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said Wednesday that China has extended its sincere condolences to the government of Nepal and the affected people following the devastating mudslide.

Lin said China is maintaining close communication and coordination with Nepal to carry out joint search-and-rescue efforts, and will provide emergency assistance as needed by the Nepali side.

Lin also urged Chinese citizens in the area to move to safety promptly, stay alert for secondary disasters, and contact the Chinese Embassy in Nepal if assistance is needed.
