Canada to unveil retaliatory measures against US after talks collapse
Canada will announce its response to US President Donald Trump's tariffs on Tuesday, a day after the US president threatened to impose a 50% tariff on Canadian cars, auto parts and steel following the collapse of trade talks.
Canadian ministers will visit a local business and hold a joint news conference to "announce new measures to protect and support Canadian workers and businesses during these challenging times," the government said in a statement.
"On Jan.
1, 2027, tariffs on all cars, trucks, both large and small, automotive parts, and steel, will be increased to 50 percent," Trump wrote in a social media post.
