August marks Children’s Eye Health and Safety Month, with a focus on childhood vision and myopia. Against this backdrop, The Hindu is holding a webinar, free for all, on Sunday, August 30, 2026.

The webinar will focus on refractive errors in children, particularly the growing concern over myopia, and examine whether increasing screen exposure and reduced time spent outdoors are contributing to changes in children’s vision. The discussion will also look at early warning signs, the importance of timely eye screening, and measures that can help prevent or slow the progression of myopia.

Guest speakers at the webinar include: Vasumathy Vedantham, ophthalmologist, vitreoretinal surgeon and paediatric retina specialist, Radhatri Nethralaya, Chennai, and Vasudha Kemmanu, consultant paediatric ophthalmologist and public eye health specialist, Narayana Nethralaya, Bengaluru. The session will be moderated by Athira Elssa Johnson, senior reporter, The Hindu.
