With the twin Brahmotsavams scheduled in Tirumala this year owing to the extra lunar month, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), district administration, and police have drawn up an integrated plan to ensure seamless conduct of the annual festivities, TTD Executive Officer (EO) Muddada Ravichandra said on Thursday.
During a coordination meeting at Annamayya Bhavan, Mr. Ravichandra, Additional EO Ch. Venkaiha Chowdary, District Collector S. Venkateswar and Superintendent of Police (SP) Subbarayudu reviewed the arrangements and directed officials to complete all pending works by September 14. The Additional EO presented a detailed overview of the preparations.
Mr. Ravichandra instructed officials to ensure that devotees faced no inconvenience, with particular emphasis on food quality, security and crowd management. He directed that a buffer stock of 10 lakh laddus be maintained and special arrangements made for the anticipated surge on ‘Garuda Seva’ day. Adequate APSRTC bus services and deployment of Srivari Sevaks were also stressed.
Officials said that the September ‘Salakatla’ and October ‘Navaratri Brahmotsavams’ would require coordinated measures covering crowd and traffic management, health, sanitation, food distribution, ghat-road maintenance, and emergency response. The arrangements were reviewed in view of the growing pilgrim numbers and the ‘Ratha Saptami’ experience, which drew around 3.75 lakh devotees and 15,000 vehicles.
Garuda Seva has been accorded particular priority, with separate plans for managing crowds in Tirumala and Tirupati. Last year, nearly 20 lakh food portions, beverages, and 15 varieties of menus were served on the day. This year, additional kitchens, procurement of essential supplies and transportation arrangements are being made to meet the demand.
Plans also cover disaster and crisis management, including NDRF and emergency response teams, while police deployment, accommodation and duty allocation are being finalised. Security deployment by TTD Vigilance and the Chief Vigilance and Security Officer (CVSO) wing is being planned based on past experience.
Twenty-seven cultural troupes from 25 States and two foreign troupes will perform during the festivities. TTD also plans extensive publicity through SVBC, social media and print and electronic media.
