In the 1940s, Nevada’s six-week divorce law turned a 1,627-acre ranch into a refuge for women seeking quick divorces; now it is becoming the state’s 28th park

Transforming from a historic divorce haven into a state park, Nevada's Lower Carson Ranch now spans 1,627 acres alongside the Carson River, preserving crucial wildlife habitats.

This transition marks the end of 155 years of private ownership, officially now under Nevada State Parks.

While development for future public use is underway and access is limited, the community is actively participating in selecting a new name for the park.
