DMK president M.K. Stalin on Saturday (October 17, 2026) said the ruling Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) was not merely a “bad party” but was turning into a “Breaking Bad” party, in an apparent reference to the Emmy award-winning Netflix series on cooking meth.

In a social media post, he said Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officials had arrested TVK functionary Boobalan, who is in charge of the Kilvelur Assembly constituency, for allegedly concealing 135 kg of methamphetamine.

“While Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay is pontificating on eradicating drugs, his party functionary has turned out to be a major drug mafia operative,” he said.

Mr. Stalin said the entire network and those behind it should be identified and rounded up if a single search had yielded such a large quantity of drugs.

“The Chief Minister, instead of using the Tahsildar to compile lists of Communists, should first count how many people like ‘Leo Das’ [a reference to Mr. Vijay’s film Leo ] and ‘Powder Sarath’ [a reference to a TVK legislator] are present in the TVK, district by district,” he said.
