KUD to felicitate 13 internationally recognised teachers on Teachers’ Day

Karnatak University, Dharwad (KUD), will felicitate 13 faculty members who have received international recognition for their academic contributions, on Teachers’ Day and it will coincide with Dr. D.C. Pavate Memorial Foundation Lecture.

Addressing press persons in Dharwad on Thursday, Vice-Chancellor of the university A.M. Khan said that 13 faculty members who had received international recognition for their academic contributions would be honoured as part of the Teachers’ Day celebrations to be held at the university’s senate hall on September 5 at 11 a.m.

The faculty members to be honoured include Sharanappa T. Nandibewoor, Vidyanand K. Revanakar, G. Seetharamappa, Ravindra R. Kamble, Ravindra B. Chougale, Rajesh G. Kalakambkar, Saraswati P. Masti, N.M. Badiger, Sanjeev R. Inamdar, B.G. Moolimani, M.K. Rabinal, R.F. Bhajantri and Lakshmi Inamdar.

As part of the Dr. D.C. Pavate Memorial Foundation Lecture, noted orthopaedic surgeon and Padma Shri and Karnataka Rajyotsava Award recipient John Ebnezar of Bengaluru will deliver a lecture on ‘Beyond Education: Towards a Complete and Healthy Life’.

R.H. Gunaki, former principal of J.S.S. College, Gokak, will attend the programme as the chief guest.

The university would also release a book titled ‘Dr. D.C. Pavate: As an Administrator’ , which chronicled the contributions of D.C. Pavate in establishment and development of the KUD, he said.

Mr. Khan said the university’s publication division (Prasaranga), which had completed 75 years, would bring out new publications and organise special lectures as part of its anniversary programmes.

The Vice-Chancellor said the university would submit proposals to the State government seeking financial assistance for its development. Plans were also under consideration to develop a ‘Games Village’ incorporating existing sports facilities, including the stadium and swimming pool, he said.

Improving examination-related systems and strengthening the university’s overall infrastructure and academic activities would remain among the institution’s priorities, Mr. Khan said.

In-charge Registrar Vishwanath, Registrar (Evaluation) A.M. Kadakol and director of Prasaranga J.M. Chandunavar were present.
