Stampedes remain a recurring incident in India, especially during religious events, festivals and large gatherings. Despite numerous occurrences, persistent systemic problems in planning and crowd management remain unaddressed.

Here is a list of stampede incidents that have shaken India in the past, including the recent tragedy at Bihar's Ashok Dham Temple, where seven devotees lost their lives due to crowd surge.
