Owaisi seeks to allay fears of electors who have received notices

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi on Friday sought to allay fears of electors over receiving Special Intensive Revision anomaly notices, and said that the party’s doors were always open to provide assistance.

Mr. Owaisi urged those who have been issued notices to appear before the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) on the date of their hearing and submit any document from the list of designated documents. He cautioned electors to take the SIR seriously adding that exclusion from the final electoral roll in October would not only mean the loss of one’s vote but could also leave an elector’s citizenship open to suspicion and scrutiny.

The party, he said, has been working for over two-and-a-half months to ensure that no genuine citizen is left out of the SIR exercise.

The AIMIM chief listed the anomaly scenarios, including age gaps of 50 years and above between elector and a parent and having six or more siblings, among others, and explained what document to produce before the ERO. He assured electors not to panic, and reiterated that his party was available to offer any assistance.
