Four farmers attacked by wild boar in Ramanathapuram; admitted to hospital

In a shocking incident, four farmers on their way to work were attacked by a wild boar at Thimmanathapuram near Perunazhi in Ramanathapuram district on Thursday.

According to information reaching the district headquarters, the four farmers, Selvam (45), Muthalagar (35), Mariswaran (31) and Sasivarnam (35), all from the same hamlet, were walking along the road towards a nearby field.

Suddenly, a wild boar that emerged from the bushes attacked Selvam. When the others attempted to chase away the animal, they too suffered injuries.

On information, local residents alerted the ambulance service and the four were admitted to the Aruppukottai Government Hospital for treatment.

The family members appealed to the government to provide treatment to the injured and ensure their safety. The animals should either be captured and driven back into the forest or appropriate steps taken to prevent such attacks, they pleaded.
