Scientists turn carbon dioxide into recyclable high-performance polyester

Scientists from Colorado State University and Northwestern University have pioneered a groundbreaking platform to synthesize polyesters using carbon dioxide.

By employing bicyclic butane and bicyclic pentane in a unique copolymerization method, they developed a system that efficiently breaks down polyester into reusable monomers.

The resulting high-performance polyesters exhibit exceptional thermal stability and can be tailored to specific requirements, promoting sustainable recycling and circularity in materials management.
