The first rake of coal from Naini Block reached the 5x800 megawatt Yadadri Thermal Power Station (YTPS) near Damaracherla in Nalgonda district on Tuesday to help the new thermal generating station overcome the coal shortage.

The rake carrying 4,000 tonnes of G-10 grade coal would help improve the efficiency of the power plant and make it operate at its rated capacity. The arrival of Naini coal assumes significance in the backdrop of TG-Genco sending a communication to the Ministry of Power seeking allocation of 5 million tonnes of additional coal as Singareni Collieries which was supplying coal to YTPS was unable to meet the coal demand both in terms of quantity and quality.

On August 6, the first rake of G-10 grade coal from Naini Block reached the 2x600 MW Singareni Thermal Power Plant (STPP) near Jaipur in Mancherial district to help the power generation efficiency.

Director (Coal & Logistics) of TG-Genco B. Nagya, Director (Thermal & Projects) Y. Rajashekhar Reddy reached the coal rake from Naini at YTPS. The high-calorific value from Naini would improve the efficiency of boilers and reduce fly ash and bottom ash generation. The YTPS is expected to get coal from Naini continuously from now on to improve the efficiency of the power plant by helping its operation at rated capacity.

Four units of the YTPS are already into generation of power and the last unit is expected to be commissioned soon.
