The Andhra Pradesh Congress party’s Political Affairs Committee will meet at Andhra Ratna Bhavan in Vijayawada at 11 a.m. on September 19, APCC vice-president and in-charge of administration Kolanukonda Shivaji said.

Mr. Shivaji said the meeting would be chaired by Andhra Pradesh Congress in-charge P.V. Mohan and was expected to be attended by about 25 senior party leaders, including former Union Ministers, Congress Working Committee (CWC) members, former PCC presidents and former IAS officers.

A preparatory meeting was held at Andhra Ratna Bhavan on Thursday (September 17, 2026) to review arrangements for the meeting and discuss the party’s preparedness for the Vijayawada Corporation elections.

Congress leaders at the preparatory meeting recalled the party’s previous initiatives in Vijayawada, including efforts to secure Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) funds and address slum-related issues. They also criticised successive State governments over what they described as inadequate funding for the city’s development. The leaders cited the absence of an east bypass and continuing traffic congestion at Ramavarappadu as unresolved concerns.

The preparatory meeting was attended by party leaders B. Nageswara Rao, Shaik Khursheeda, Meesala Rajeshwara Rao, Shaik Ansari, Borra Ravichandra, Sunitha, Indira and others.
