Pratibha Puraskar: Minister felicitates 181 top student achievers

Greater Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda on Saturday (August 29) felicitated 181 high-performing students, including a student who scored a perfect 625 out of 625 in the SSLC examination, at a felicitation programme organised in the city.

The top five SSLC performers and top three PU achievers were given tablets as special recognition, while all 181 students received certificates, medals and mementoes at the Nammuru Hemme programme. The ‘Pratibha Puraskar’ programme was organised by the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) in association with the Bengaluru Urban District Zilla Panchayat.

Addressing the students, Mr. Gowda said scoring more than 99% was no ordinary achievement and reflected years of discipline, hard work and perseverance. “Such achievements are possible only through sustained hard work. It is our responsibility to celebrate such talent,” he said.

The Pratibha Puraskar programme was open to Bengaluru residents who had performed exceptionally in SSLC, PU and Central-syllabus examinations. Students who scored 621 marks or above in SSLC, 596 marks or above in PU, and 496 marks or above in classes 10 and 12 under the Central syllabus were eligible to apply.

Speaking to the media after the felicitation programme, Mr. Byre Gowda said that with Ganesha Chaturthi approaching, people must avoid celebrating with POP idols in the interest of the city. “I request people not to violate the law in the name of Ganesha by using POP idols. Celebrate the festival, but in a way that is good for our city,” the Minister said.

On the use of DJs and loud music during the festival, the Minister said he would hold a meeting with the city police department and issue directions accordingly.
