An 18-year-old security guard was stabbed to death following a dispute over the repayment of a ₹20,000 loan near Theegapur village in Kothur mandal on Wednesday (October 14). The Future City Police arrested two men in connection with the murder within 24 hours.

The deceased was identified as Bodike Prem Kumar, 18, while the arrested accused were Mohammed Irfan and Mohammed Nawazuddin.

According to Kothur Inspector B. Nagarjuna Reddy, Irfan had been demanding that Prem Kumar repay ₹20,000 he had borrowed. On Wednesday, he invited the victim for drinks, where an argument broke out between them over the outstanding amount.

“During the altercation, Irfan attacked Prem Kumar with a knife, stabbing him multiple times, while Nawazuddin held the victim to prevent him from escaping. Prem Kumar sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene,” said the officer.

Following the murder, the Kothur police examined the crime scene, collected evidence and analysed the victim’s mobile phone records to identify and trace the accused.

Both men were apprehended during vehicle checking at Thimmapur X Roads on Thursday (October 15). Police recovered the knife used in the attack, clothes, two mobile phones, a Honda Activa scooter and an autorickshaw. The accused were produced before a court on Friday (October 16) and remanded to judicial custody.
