Around 1.2 lakh people who have enrolled with the Employees State Insurance Corporation would be able to access cashless treatment for major ailments at the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research here.
For availing cashless treatment, the ESIC entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Jipmer on Friday. The MoU was signed by Saka Vinod Kumar, Medical Superintendent, Jipmer and Subramanian, State Medical Regional Officer, ESIC, Puducherry in the presence of Jipmer Director Vir Singh Negi, a release from the institute said.
The agreement would facilitate cashless healthcare services for ESIC beneficiaries and their dependents. The MoU aims to strengthen access to advanced and specialised healthcare for ESIC beneficiaries, particularly in areas where ESIC healthcare infrastructure or specialised services are limited.
Under the agreement, ESIC beneficiaries would have access to a range of services at Jipmer, including outpatient and inpatient care, diagnostic and laboratory services, emergency care, surgeries and medical procedures. Emergency treatment would also be provided without a prior referral, with beneficiary verification and necessary communication with ESIC to follow as prescribed, the release said.
The MoU provides for online referrals through the ESIC referral system and cashless treatment in accordance with applicable ESIC policies and mutually agreed rates. It also envisages dedicated coordination mechanisms, including an ESIC Mitra/Single Point of Contact, to facilitate seamless services for beneficiaries.
The MoU is initially valid for two years and may be extended by one additional year on mutually agreed terms. The partnership marks an important step towards strengthening coordination between two Government institutions and facilitating accessible, affordable and quality tertiary healthcare services for ESIC beneficiaries and their families, the release said.
