The Special Operations Team (SOT) of the L.B. Nagar zone, in coordination with Vanasthalipuram police, arrested six persons, including a woman and two children in conflict with law (CCLs), and seized 12 kg of hashish oil worth ₹1.5 crore in Hyderabad on Monday (August 17, 2026).

Acting on credible information that a group was transporting hashish oil from Alluri Sitharama Raju district in Andhra Pradesh to Bengaluru via Hyderabad, the police intercepted them near Chinthalkunta in Vanasthalipuram during the morning hours.

The police said four carriers, including the two CCLs, had concealed the contraband in 1 kg packets and tied them around their legs and stomachs with brown adhesive tape. Each carrier carried three packets, with one tied to each leg and one to the stomach. A total of 12 kg of hashish oil, five mobile phones and ₹5,000 cash were seized.

The arrested persons were identified as 25-year-old Gemmeli Srinu, his 27-year-old wife Nibiya K.B., 21-year-old Chikkudu Saran, 19-year-old Pangi Jagadish, and two 17-year-old boys. Srinu and Nibiya allegedly organised the transportation, while the others acted as carriers.

Malkajgiri Police Commissioner B. Sumathi said that Srinu had previously been arrested in two NDPS cases in Narsipatnam and Adavi Annavaram Police Stations in Andhra Pradesh. After his release from jail, he allegedly resumed hashish oil trafficking in association with a person identified as Krishna from the Chintapalli area and Sijo, a Bengaluru resident from Kerala.

“Srinu and his wife allegedly recruited unemployed tribal youth from neighbouring villages by offering them money to transport hashish oil to Bengaluru. For the latest consignment, Sijo had allegedly promised ₹10 lakh for delivery of the 12 kg of hashish oil,” explained the officer.

The group allegedly collected the contraband from Krishna in the Chintapalli area and travelled by private transport towards Bengaluru through Hyderabad. Police said Krishna, the alleged supplier, and Sijo, the alleged receiver, are absconding and efforts are under way to trace them and identify other persons involved in the supply chain.
