Apple May Add Camera Control Button to Future iPad, Patent Reveals

Apple's newly granted patent describes a pressure-sensitive physical control that could be used on a future tablet.

The mechanism can detect different levels of force, determine where pressure is applied and respond with haptic feedback.

It can also support swipe gestures, making it comparable to the Camera Control on recent iPhone models.

The patent includes tablet-focused illustrations and follows an earlier filing from December 2025.

Apple has not confirmed whether the technology will be used on an iPad or any other upcoming device.
