A private bus driver and conductor allegedly attacked a passenger for questioning the collection of additional bus fare here on Friday (September 11, 2026).
According to the police, Ashokan (47), a resident of Muthugapatti in Namakkal, owns a mobile shop on Salem Road. On Friday night, he came to Namakkal from Salem on a private bus.
The bus conductor collected ₹38 as fare instead of ₹33, and the date and time mentioned in the ticket were changed. When he questioned it, a verbal duel broke out between him and the conductor.
Later, when the bus reached the Namakkal New Bus Stand, the bus driver, conductor and other allegedly attacked Ashokan. Later, he lodged a complaint with the Nallipalayam police, who registered a case and are investigating further.
