RRT to be formed to address timely redressal of road-related problems in Keralam’s Ernakulam district

A meeting of the District Development Committee (DDC) decided to form a rapid response team (RRT) for the timely redressal of road‑related problems across the district.

District Collector G. Priyanka ordered the formation of the RRT, which will intervene to resolve issues such as potholes and absence of street lights, barricades, and reflectors. The Chief Minister’s representative called for a resolution to entry and exit problems on the national highway at Moothakunnam Junction.

He also pointed out that the public was struggling to use the service road along the stretch between K.P. Kamalakshan Road and Thuruthipuram due to the ongoing highway construction work.

Mohammed Shiyas, MLA, sought the quick completion of maintenance work at the Kochi taluk hospital and sought a solution to flooding in houses located in wards 14 and 15 of Chellanam panchayat. The Collector announced that the Fort Kochi Sub‑Collector would be appointed as special officer to address issues like illegal shops in Fort Kochi, encroachments, and waste management issues.

The representative of Fisheries Minister V.E. Gafoor highlighted that the annual maintenance contract for signals along Container Terminal Road had expired. The Collector tasked the Kalamassery municipality with resolving the matter.

Higher Education Minister Roji M. John’s representative drew attention to potholes along NH 544, leading to accidents. He also noted that the non‑maintenance of plantations bordering the forest in Malayattoor, Mookkannoor, and Ayyampuzha was causing wildlife intrusion, posing threats to houses in the area.
