KKCTH performs keyhole surgery on brain of teenager

Kanchi Kamakoti CHILDS Trust Hospital (KKCTH), Chennai, has performed a minimally invasive keyhole brain surgery on a teenager who had two large brain tuberculomas in two different compartments of the brain.

According to a press release, the child had been on standard anti-tubercular treatment for three months under S. Balasubramanian, Senior Consultant Paediatrician. K. Santosh Mohan Rao, Paediatric Neurosurgeon, planned an individualised minimally invasive keyhole approach to treat both lesions. The procedure was supported by advanced technology recently made available at KKCTH.

The hospital recently received Centre of Excellence in Paediatric Care certification under the leadership of Janani Sankar, Medical Director, and Sanjay Chandran, CEO, the release said.
