The Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) on Saturday held a rally marching towards the Secretariat to press the Tamil Nadu government to conduct a caste-based census within three months and to increase the reservation for Muslims in education and employment to 7%.
The rally began near Rajarathinam Stadium in Egmore and was led by SDPI state president Nellai Mubarak. Dravidar Kazhagam leader K. Veeramani and other leaders participated and spoke in reiterating the demand.
They said like Bihar and Karnataka, Tamil Nadu must complete a caste-based census within three months.
