Jipmer’s resource hub upgraded as Centre of Excellence for Health Technology Assessment

The Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research has achieved another milestone with its Resource Hub for Health Technology Assessment being upgraded to be established as a Centre for Excellence for Health Technology Assessment (HTA).
The institute in a release said as of 2026, the hub has completed 30 research studies, organised or contributed to 40 national and international capacity-building activities and published 31 peer-reviewed articles in reputed national and international journals.
As a Centre of Excellence, Jipmer will have an expanded role in strengthening Health Technology Assessment in the country. Its responsibilities will include providing technical leadership on advanced HTA methodologies, contributing to the development and updating of national HTA methodological standards, guidelines and best practices, and supporting quality assurance mechanisms for HTA studies, the release said.
The Centre will undertake specialised HTA studies, methodological research and multicentric studies, thereby contributing to evidence generation for informed healthcare decision making. The institute would also contribute towards capacity building, the release said.
