A 19-year-old man was killed and his pillion rider injured after a truck rammed the motorcycle they were travelling on at the I.P. Flyover in central Delhi on Sunday (August 23) morning, said police.
“The deceased, identified as Aman, a resident of Madanpur Khadar, was riding the bike towards Sarai Kale Khan when the accident occurred,” a senior police officer said.
The pillion rider, Alber, 22, a resident of Batla House in Jamia Nagar, was injured.
The I.P. Estate police station received a PCR call about the accident at 6.21 a.m. after the call was transferred from the Civil Lines police station. A police team reached the spot and called in a crime team for an inspection.
Aman died at the spot. He and Alber were taken to the Trauma Centre, where Alber is undergoing treatment and is stated to be in a stable condition, police said.
“The truck involved in the accident fled the spot,” the officer said. Efforts are under way to identify and trace the vehicle and its driver. Police said a case has been registered against him.
