A.P. woman found dead, face defaced in T.N. village

A woman from Chittoor district in Andhra Pradesh was found dead at Thandalam village in Tamil Nadu’s Tiruvallur district on Friday night, a day after she left home to attend a wedding of her friend’s daughter, the police said.

The deceased, originally from Chavarambakam, was identified as Aruna, 40, and was survived by a son and a daughter. Tamil Nadu police registered a case under Section 101 (Culpable homicide) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and launched an investigation into the matter.

According to her family members, Aruna left home saying she was going to attend a wedding of her friend’s daughter in Thandalam village in the neighbouring Tamil Nadu, about 25 kms from Nindra.

Tamil Nadu police found her body in the bushes, with her throat slit and face defaced, and the gold jewellery she wore was missing. After the preliminary investigation, the Nagari division police suspect that it was not a pre-planned murder and the accused might have murdered the woman for gold jewellery.
